How may the mirrors that are used for dental photography be categorized?
Through either the mirror's design and the substance used to create the light-reflecting coating are divided into two main categories.
The shape of the mirror:
This could be occlusal or buccal
Occlusal mirrors are used mainly to shoot full arch occlusal pictures but, sometimes with limited mouth opening large patient size is not suitable
There is also a common issue of Gag reflux
The patient feels irritated when the border of the mirror touches oral tissues.
Buccal mirrors are more common and have more usage.
It can be used with quadrants, buccal or lingual positions.
And it could be tilted in any favorable direction.
The mirror may be applied to and positioned in a particular location of the mouth because of its design. Furthermore, sizes of various forms might vary, allowing for a patient's specific tool adjustments and comfort while working.
But ...
Don't neglect the handles when selecting mirrors. You'll find it simpler to maintain the ideal mirror position when shooting photos if you do this.
Do you know some mirrors come with coating?
YES…
There are several coatings for example:
Titanium, rhodium chromium, and dielectric.
Some of them help reflect more light, others help in preserving the mirror’s quality for years.
Starting from scratch seems hard, i know that.
